Office & Retail Renovation in North Hollywood
North Hollywood retail and office refits with a ground and densified concrete floor where the slab allows, laid out first, then powered, lit and finished.
Ground and densified concrete is the floor we price first for a North Hollywood retail bay where the slab is sound. Grit carried in on shoes, carts and hand trucks scratches coatings and lifts tile edges, while a densified slab hardens its own top layer and takes that wear. On an inland lot, dry wind can push dust through the front door, and a polished surface lets staff dust-mop it clean in minutes.
Why the slab works as the finish
Grinding opens the top of the concrete, a densifier soaks in and reacts to harden it, and finer passes bring up a sheen. There is no adhesive, no grout line and no wax coat to strip. Cracks are filled to match before polishing, and old mastic is ground away. The surface holds up under rolling loads from stock carts and display fixtures. Where the slab is too damaged to polish, commercial vinyl plank or rubber tile is the fallback, set over a leveled base.
Layout before the floor finish
Picking the finish waits until the plan is drawn. The plan places the register and fitting rooms where customers reach them easily, a back room for stock, a staff kitchen beside existing drains. Walls, power and lighting are placed to suit it. Grinding happens before the walls are framed, so the finish runs edge to edge, and the slab is then covered with protection board while the trades work above it. Display fixtures and counters anchor through the polished floor at the end.

Office & Retail Renovation in North Hollywood: questions to settle first
It can, section by section. The bay is divided so customers use one side while the other is worked on, with sealed plastic walls between them. Grinding is wet or vacuumed and still loud, so it can be booked for after closing where building and city rules allow.
The kitchen goes beside existing drains and vents, and its sink, fridge and microwave are placed so staff do not crowd the stockroom door. Counter outlets get ground-fault protection, heavy appliances get a dedicated circuit, and a portion of the counter is kept low for seated use.
North Hollywood work is permitted by LADBS for the City of Los Angeles. Walls, plumbing, new circuits, lighting and duct changes need a permit. Polishing an existing slab does not on its own. We file the plans, answer comments and request inspections.
