Kitchen and Home Remodeling in Brentwood
Navon Home starts a Brentwood whole-home remodel in the kitchen, where duct, gas and circuit routes are set before LADBS review and any finish work.
When a Brentwood house is being remodeled from end to end, the kitchen goes first if its new layout needs a hood duct, a larger gas line or fresh circuits that cross other rooms. Those lines pass through ceilings and floors that the flooring, drywall and paint crews will close later. Settling the kitchen plan early tells every other trade where the openings belong, so finished surfaces elsewhere in the house are cut only once.
Damp air and the metal in a kitchen
Air that drifts in off the water on the Westside is damp and hard on bare steel. Hinges, drawer slides and pulls hold up better in stainless or a baked finish, and a hood with a stainless liner resists the rust spots that tend to appear first at its seams. Behind the sink and dishwasher we hang a moisture-resistant backer board, then seal the counter joint where splashes collect. Some Brentwood parcels also appear on fire hazard maps, which can add ember-resistance rules to new exterior openings. We look up the parcel before those openings are drawn, and anything the rules require is priced as its own line.
LADBS review and a possible planning step
LADBS, the City of Los Angeles building department, issues the permit for a Brentwood remodel. Plan check looks at the number of kitchen circuits, the size of the gas pipe feeding the range, the path of the hood duct and any beam that replaces a removed wall. Some Westside parcels fall inside a state-mapped zone near the water and some do not. Where a lot is inside it, exterior changes can need a separate planning approval, which comes before the building permit is issued. We confirm the map status at the first visit, since it can change the order of approvals for the whole house.
What we plan and build in Brentwood
Every project here starts the same way: a measured layout, then the lines behind the walls, then finishes.
