Kitchen Remodeling in Ventura

Navon Home plans the Ventura kitchen around humid air: a sink base sealed at every edge, ducting that clears steam and rust resistant hardware.

The sink wall is the part of a Ventura kitchen we plan most carefully. Areas near the water bring humid air in general, along with the occasional damp morning, and that wall already collects splash, steam and the odd slow drip. So the layout puts the sink where its drain and vent are easy to reach, and the cabinet below it, the counter seam behind it and the window above it are all chosen to stay dry.

Under the sink and along the backsplash

The sink base is built from a moisture-resistant panel with every cut edge sealed, and its floor gets a removable liner so a leak shows up early and wipes out clean. Supply lines are braided steel with quarter turn stops that are simple to reach. On the wall, the backsplash is set on a cement board backer with its joints taped and sealed. A quartz or porcelain counter with a tight undermount seam keeps water from the substrate, and the window sill above it is pitched so condensation runs off.

Steam, metal parts and the Ventura permit

Steam from the cooktop leaves through a hood of matching width, ducted outside on a short run, before it can settle on glass or cabinet tops. Its outside cap, the hinges and the drawer slides are stainless or coated, since humid air works on plain steel. Permits go to the City of Ventura building department, which checks the plans and sends inspectors at each rough stage. If a parcel falls in the state-designated planning area along the water, an extra planning step may apply when an outside wall changes, and we check that first. Kitchens in Camarillo and Moorpark follow the same layout steps.
