Northridge Kitchen and Whole Home Remodeling
Navon Home opens a Northridge remodel visit at the electrical panel, then the gas meter and hood path, so the kitchen layout is drawn on known capacity.
Our first look at a Northridge house is the electrical panel. Its rating, the open breaker slots and the condition of the wiring tell us whether an induction range, a second oven or more counter circuits can be added without an upgrade. Then we trace the gas line from the meter and find a route for the hood duct to reach outdoors. Those three answers frame the kitchen layout we draw next.
When the panel needs more capacity
If the existing service cannot support the new kitchen loads, a load calculation shows how much more is needed. An upgrade involves the utility for the service connection and LADBS for the permit, since Northridge is part of the City of Los Angeles. It is scheduled early because the rest of the house may draw on it too, from a heat pump water heater to a car charger in the garage. Where the budget is tight, a load management device can sometimes avoid a full upgrade, and both paths can be priced side by side.
Gas line and duct route
An older gas line may be too small for a high output range, which shows up when total appliance demand is weighed against the pipe length. Replacing a section or running a new line from the meter settles that before the cooktop is chosen. The hood duct is traced next: through an exterior wall, up into the attic to a roof cap, or along a soffit if neither works. Smooth metal duct with few bends moves air with less resistance. Once both routes are set, cabinets and flooring are planned around them.
What we plan and build in Northridge
Every project here starts the same way: a measured layout, then the lines behind the walls, then finishes.
