West Hollywood Kitchen Remodeling, Lighting Plan Included
West Hollywood kitchen remodels drawn for review: high-efficacy fixtures, separate under-cabinet switching, sealed recessed lights and the hood duct.
Under-cabinet strips, ceiling fixtures and the pendants over an island each appear on the lighting schedule a West Hollywood kitchen permit carries. The city's building and safety staff check that every installed fixture is high-efficacy, as current state energy rules require, and that the controls meet the code. They also look at the circuits, the hood and any wall that changes, so we draw all of it before submittal.
Light fixtures and their controls
Each fixture is listed by type, and every one must qualify as high-efficacy, which in practice means LED fixtures or lamps certified for it. Recessed cans that touch insulation need a rating for that contact, and they must be sealed so air does not leak into the ceiling space. Under-cabinet lighting is switched on its own, and dimmers or sensors are added where the energy code calls for them. Because the switching shows on the drawing, the cabinet layout and the lighting plan are finalized together, and a change to one is carried into the other.
Circuits, exhaust and the walls
Ground-fault protection and enough spacing that a small appliance cord reaches an outlet from anywhere along the run are both required at the counter. Heavy appliances get dedicated circuits, and a load calculation shows the panel can carry the total, or the upgrade joins the job. The hood's duct is drawn from the fan to the exterior cap, with its size and bends noted. If a partition comes out, the plans state whether it bears weight, with a beam and posts sized where it does. For a gas range, pipe sizing is shown as well.
Kitchen Remodeling in West Hollywood: questions to settle first
It can, when the runs can reach. On a new wall, the sink drain is sloped to the stack and vented, and the range is fed by gas or its own circuit with the hood duct carried outside. Each change appears on the permit drawing, and the quote prices it beside the layout you have now.
The fixture schedule and switching plan, appliance models with cutouts and electrical needs, the hood and its duct route, the cabinet list and finish choices. If a partition is coming out, its structural details belong here too. With these fixed the price follows a drawn plan, and anything open is named with its deadline.
New or moved plumbing and gas, added circuits and fixtures, a ducted hood and any framing change all need a permit. West Hollywood handles its own building and safety review and the inspections that follow. Replacing cabinet doors or a counter in its current position with no new lines may not, and the city can confirm the scope.
