Kitchen Remodeling in Calabasas
Kitchen permits in Calabasas go through the City of Calabasas building department. Navon Home draws the layout, prepares the plan set and meets inspections.
The City of Calabasas has its own building department, and that office is where a kitchen remodel here gets its permit. Since Calabasas is an incorporated city, its staff review the plans and send the inspectors. The reviewer wants a measured layout showing where the range, sink and hood sit, along with each new circuit and any change to gas or drain lines, so those are drawn before a single finish is discussed.
What the plan set shows the reviewer
The submittal starts with a floor plan of the kitchen as it is and as it will be, with cabinet runs, appliance spots and clearances marked. An electrical sheet lists every new circuit, from the dedicated line for an induction range to the small appliance outlets along the counters. If a gas range stays, the line size and shutoff location are noted. The hood gets its duct route and the point where it leaves the house. When a wall comes out, an engineer's beam detail joins the set before it goes in for review.
Fire hazard mapping and inspections
Calabasas has land inside mapped fire hazard zones. A lot in one of those areas may face ember-resistance requirements for any new window, exterior door or vent on the kitchen side of the house, such as tempered glazing or a vent opening screened with fine metal mesh. Once the permit is issued, inspectors come in sequence: framing and rough plumbing, then gas and electrical before insulation, and a final when the appliances run. Each sign-off goes on the permit card, and the next trade is scheduled only after it.
What we plan and build in Calabasas
Every project here starts the same way: a measured layout, then the lines behind the walls, then finishes.
